About

In the early nineties, I shared a dorm room with a gym enthusiast who encouraged me to visit the gym at San Jose State

University.  I decided to tag along, not knowing what to expect.  Having a buddy to lead me into the gym lessened my initial apprehension and the fear of the unknown.  It wasn't long before I felt confident enough to venture out of my comfort zone and visit the gym regularly.  The gym felt like a familiar playground for me as I developed a habit of working out.  I welcomed this newfound fitness lifestyle with open arms.  I continued my workouts in the college gym while studying for my Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  After graduating in 2000, I signed up for a membership at Gold's Gym and developed a habit of working out there.

I completed the Certified Fitness Trainer course through International Sports Science Association (ISSA).  I decided to continue my pursuit of learning more about fitness and nutrition.  I reenrolled in my alma mater in 2005 and studied Kinesiology, earning another Bachelor of Science Degree (Cum Laude honor) in 2010.

I have been a nationally-credentialed Certified Personal Trainer since 2003 and was one of the first personal trainers to be hired by Stanford University in 2006.  I have trained Stanford University staff, faculty, and hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students from 2006 to 2015.  I am currently teaching fitness classes such as Total Body Conditioning, Bootcamp, and Core Conditioning for corporate employees of various companies in the South Bay Area as well as virtual classes.

I believe and practice the qualities that make up a strong professional work ethic:  a positive attitude, a high degree of reliability, being consistently punctual and motivated, always enthusiastic, and very organized.  These are the qualities that lead to success in pursuit of excellence.  Other personal traits include being empathetic, attentive, respectful, genuine, courteous, dedicated, enthusiastic, competent, and nonjudgmental.  Skills include instructing group fitness classes, providing comprehensive fitness assessments, designing workout and nutrition programs, analyzing and solving problems, advising, coaching, and being a good communicator.

Weightlifting has been a passion of mind for over 30 years and has allowed me the opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle.  I take pride in being a natural, recreational bodybuilder.  My favorite cardio activities include stair master and spinning bike intervals.  My personal fitness goal is to continue gaining muscle mass while maintaining a lean, aesthetically-pleasing appearance.  Special interests include athlete fitness, body fat loss and bodybuilding.
